My Daily Meal Plan (under the SBD)

I’ve lost a good amount of weight after two weeks of being on the South Beach Diet. Who wouldn’t lose that amount of weight within a short span of time if your daily meal plan consists of only –

Scrambled eggs and fish tocino for breakfast

Less than 20 pcs. of nuts for your morning snack:

Salad and some seafood for lunch:

A couple slices of cheese for your afternoon snack:

Stir fry beef, veggies, and a cup of non-fat dessert for dinner:

Not me, as I’ve lost about seven pounds (i didn’t need those alli reviews after all). One person I know who followed this plan lost more than ten pounds even! The diet was really strict as no carbo, sugar, and caffeine are to be consumed. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel deprived nor hungry. In a few weeks time , I plan to follow this phase of the South Beach again. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy some carbo, a little sugar, and a bit of caffeine

Invites for Manu’s 4th Birthday

It’ll be just a week before Manu’s birthday party at school and it almost slipped my mind! If the husband didn’t mention about the push-on dino toys he was getting as souvenirs, I would have totally forgotten! Now I have to prepare everything in just a few days - invitations, snacks to be served, activities to be done, etc. I have to take care of the invites first and foremost as this has to be sent out on Monday. Thank God for Melisse of Perfect Pixels, the invitations will be on their way to our home on Sunday :) Fast huh? Everything - from conceptualization until the printing of approved invites - was done in just a few hours. I don’t mind the dark under eye circles I will be getting from the late-night chatting with Melisse. I am much satisfied with the end-result of the simple, tiny project

Overheard a couple of young girls the other night at the gym talking about our favorite subject — boys :

Girl#1: “Ano pipiliin mo sa tatlo — gwapo, matalino, o mayaman?”

Girl#2: “Gwapo.”

Girl#1: “Sabi ko na nga ba eh. Kasi blah blah blah….”

I didn’t listen further to conversation. I just thought that these girls are out of their minds. Crazy. Young. Naive. But I was once like them too, so I understand But to the older and wiser women out there, would you have picked what I had picked?

Recruitment period

It’s that time of the year again when our HR officer would sort through resumes and shortlist applicants for our area openings. We would usually get between 15 to 20 applicants per batch but time around we only got 13. The hiring and training process would normally take between 4 to 6 weeks and during that time we would weed out the weak-of-heart and would be left with around 10 to 12 applicants. Right now, we only have 6 remaining and after that we’d be lucky enough to keep 3 as solid performers. Whoever said it’s easy to find a job these days?!? Some of our applicants would quit even after being hired. I guess they have other job options to consider.

Real estate still in bad state

The state of US real estate hasn’t been in the news of late but I hear from my sister in law that it is still in bad shape. They’re in the market for a 1^st home (they are still renting – which is a good option considering the condition of the market) and are keeping their eyes peeled for good offers. One of the areas they’re eyeing are the Outer Banks in North Carolina, there are homes there that could be good investments some time in the future due to numerous Outer banks foreclosures in the last couple of months. We wish them happy hunting since a good bargain can be had as opportunities abound even in bad economic times.

We’re headed to the beach!

We are Boracay bound this coming March and we’re very excited since this will be Manu’s first time on the beach. He’s heard a lot about it from his classmates who’ve gone to Boracay and Palawan so we’re very eager to see his reaction/s when he sets his feet on the surf and sand. Boracay is still our beach of choice because of the convenience in accommodation and the variety of food – its very hard to find food for a picky 4-year old! As much as I’d love to check out Poipu vacation rentals, I think we’ll stick to local beaches first. I’m sure I’d love the 1^st class accommodations at Poipu but nothing beats the closeness and convenience of Boracay.

The cost of staying healthy

It seems like we’ve been going to the doctor frequently of late. Manu has been catching cold viruses left and right and Gats’ allergies have been on and off since the New Year. Because of this I’m thinking of upgrading our HMO coverage or getting a health savings account for the family. I don’t really mind the premium as long I have peace of mind that my boys are covered whatever ailments come our way.

Eclipse Stills!!!

I didn’t notice that a friend sent me some stills from the upcoming “Eclipse” movie as it was included in my spam mail (good thing i check my spam mailbox almost everyday too ! I must say that these photos is making me want Rob again! (hahaha. i was obsessed with him when the twilight movie came out but the obsession died down a few months after)

Can’t wait to see this this film on the big screen (and on plenty more televisions after! ) !
