Archives for what i love to do category

I live in the south but because of my love for hi-lo and step classes, I’ll be traveling all the way up north this coming holiday to attend the advanced step class of a certain Fernando at Fitness First Greenhills. Why go so far, you may wonder. This is because free style hi-lo and step classes, which our group enjoys the most, are already a scarcity in Fitness First Alabang. So scarce, that there is only one free style hi-lo class available in the group exercise schedule of the club. And because of this, I am really considering suspending my membership and purchasing home gyms instead. The latter may initially burn a hole in my pocket but I think it will be a good investment in the long run.

I am very fortunate to be working in our family-owned company for almost a decade now (To tell you the truth, I really didn’t want to join when my dad first asked, but then he gave the talk and so the rest was history). The business is running smoothly, thanks to my father’s very capable hands and a great management team. In spite of being in the family business, I’ve been thinking of setting up a business that leans towards the beauty industry. On top of head, I’m thinking of a small-scale spa or nail salon since I love going to both :) Honestly though, I don’t have much capital to invest on it so it’s either I secure a few Business Loans or acquire the mom as a partner and have them fund the business  I guess the better choice is obvious :D .

I went to Godiva Skin Station last night while I was waiting for Gats to leave the office. I’ve wanted to try their services for the longest time now because aside from the fact that their rates are really low compared with other skin clinics, I’ve been reading positive feedback about them.

While I was waiting for the attendant to finish her business with a client, I told myself not to give in to a seemingly excellent offer immediately as my “other” purchases would be in danger of taking the back seat (been meaning to buy swing sets for the little boy to complement his more-than-a-decade old slide :D ). Deep inside though, I already knew that my credit card would be taken out that night. Surprisingly, it wasn’t. I went out of the clinic even before the attendant could say hi to me since the husband was already waiting in the parking area. Good thing? A bit, as I was able to delay another expense :D

I used to go to the gym four times a week, mainly because of the several free style aerobic classes my fitness center is offering. Unfortunately, they have cut the number of free style classes to just twice a week and have replaced it classes which I really don’t find stimulating at all. Since this affected my exercise schedule drastically, I am seriously considering taking yoga and pilates classes in lieu of the cancelled classes. But then I learned that these classes are scheduled during work hours, which means it is almost impossible for me to be attend these classes. What if I buy a pilates or yoga dvd instead and just exercise within the comfort of my own home? I don’t know, as I really enjoy doing my exercises in a group. If there’s no improvement in the center’s schedule within the next couple of months, I might consider this option. But until that time comes, I’ll just hang on to my twice a week gym schedule.

We’re off to HK!

hongkong.jpgWe are going to Hongkong in May and I am excited! I’ve traveled to this city more than a couple of times already, but this will be different as the little boy is tagging along. I expect that this will be (like our Singapore trip) a semi non-shopping trip for me and more of a sight-seeing one since I want Manu to enjoy the trip most. Having said that, I’ll still be making a short shopping list so that I could plan our itinerary well:

  1. A designer bag for myself
  2. Something for Gats
  3. THOMAS trains and accessories for Manu
  4. More GAP clothes for Manu
  5. Digital camera

Since last year, I was already searching for a good preschool for Manu (thanks to the endless threads and various forums on preschools that glued me to the internet like a crazy momma). I was able to gather so much information from the internet more particularly on Mom Exchange, N@W, and GT, which eventually led to a decision to send my little boy to school at an early age.

Choosing a good school isn’t easy, believe me. First off, there are a lot (and I mean a lot) of preschools near our home. Second, there are different teaching philosophies (which I just learned recently since the only thing I was aware of before all the research was the traditional method of teaching) which got me thinking which is the best one? And third, the distance and budget issues (I can’t believe how much the fees are! My boy’s tuition fee - if I decide to enroll him this school year - is more than twice my tuition fee when I was in college!)

I was immediately drawn to the progressive approach of teaching the first time I read about it at Mom Exchange. As I researched about it, I knew that I wanted such a school for my toddler. One of the more popular preschools that always comes up in the forums is Toddler’s Unlimited. This school became my first choice as the reviews about the school are positive, not to mention them being progressive. Then I learned about The Bridge School. As I read feedback both from cyberspace and from close friends, I became more curious on why this school is highly recommended. I then looked into their website, found out about their teaching methods, and searched for more recommendations. With all the high praises from moms who send their kids to The Bridge, I decided to choose this school.

But when will I enroll him? I want to enroll him this year, but I am apprehensive about how he would cope as a two-year-old. I expressed my concerns to Teacher Katrina of The Bridge, and she recommended that we try out their summer camp to see if Manu is indeed ready.

Early this morning, I, together with the soon-to-be preschooler, met with Teacher Katrina and finalized his enrollment at The Bridge’s Summer Camp. I am really excited about Manu joining this camp as I can’t help but imagine him getting messy with the paints, looking intently at the teachers during story telling sessions, singing, dancing, and other fun activities. By the end of the camp, I hope to come up with a decision on whether I’ll push through with the plans of enrolling him for this school year.

Just recently my husband saw a site specifically targeted for Mac users – Mac Poker Online. This website is not really a venue for playing poker but rather it evaluates other Poker sites, which is a good thing since you might want to know where you’re putting your money-in in the first place. Would you believe that some online sites have been in operation since 1996? It would seem that Pacific Poker and other online poker pioneers have been around for more than a decade already. Others like Fulltilt Poker will even let you chat with your playmates – probably to simulate a “bluff” since all of you will be facing computer monitors instead of a human face to get expressions. I didn’t believe it was this big until I saw these facts.

Now I understand why some friends have already started having poker nights. For us though, since we don’t really play much poker, we stick to “Pusoy” or “Pusoy Dos” to pass the time. :D

I crashed into the world of blogging with little knowledge about it. I had several tries before my first blogsite was put up. The first two tries were with Blogspot, but I found the interface not so user-friendly (as I had such a difficult time understanding every bit of instruction). I almost ended my “dream” of having a blogsite of my own, and then I tried Wordpress. Thanks to its beginner, user friendly dashboard and great customer support, I was able to start my own blogsite. And before I knew it, I was already looking for a web hosting company which could publish my very own domain! Now I’m so into blogging that almost half of my day is spent just reading blog after blog, and writing a few paragraphs of my own on my own site.
