Free vs. Paid

My husband recently installed a free antivirus software in our desktop as we didn’t want to shell out money since we only use our PC for chatting and browsing. Of course our office PC’s are treated with purchased software since we don’t want to take any chance with regards to business files. But I’ve noticed, though, that our home PC never really got infected even when we operated it for a few months without any antivirus program. Maybe because we don’t have “important” files in there?!? Are viruses discriminating? I doubt it. Maybe because even browsers have their own filters that virus are detected from the other end of the line? We wanted to get the best antivirus software for our office, but is it worth it? Whatever the software as long as it’s regularly updated it should do the trick – that’s my opinion. Maybe a backup software is better since it addresses both accidental deletion and recovery from virus attacks. I’ll have my husband look for a free version later.
