The use of various media in the Pacquiao/Diaz fights reminds me of what the Americans have done with the NFL the last couple of years. Whereas before you can just sit down and watch a match with any cable connection now you have to subscribe to a specific channel – the NFL TV or NFL TV Package. Gone are the days of just channel surfing and just chancing on a certain match, today we have to keep track of schedules. The funny part is regular matches are scheduled and “provided” different from special matches which you can get through an NFL Sunday Ticket, or the scheduled Sunday matches which you have to subscribe to. Pretty soon Pacquiao matches will only be available through Direct TV, or whatever that means. We’ll probably end up watching him matches at the nearest SM mall.
