I can never understand why some people would put rear spoilers in their cars when all they will be doing is some city driving. I’d understand it if it came with the car – variant standard. But a lot are just after-market add-ons with very little use in every day driving. My husband used to want a spoiler for his car but never got around to installing one – which is good since he won’t be racing any of our cars in the city anyway

Who’s Your Hollywood Mom Match?
My Result: Reese Witherspoon
Being a parent has never looked so classy! Understated and always tasteful, someone as timelessly chic as you isn’t easy to come by. So it makes sense that your Hollywood mom match would be the super-sweet and ever-elegant Reese Witherspoon. Sure, you still deal with spit up and changing diapers: The difference is that you manage to look good even when handling the basics of momhood. And beyond your poise and appearances you still shine with the knowledge that no matter what, family comes first and if you don’t have family you don’t have much.
Somehow, with a million things to juggle, you always make it look effortless. So even if you’re not from Hollywood, you can sure play the part. Now that’s a class act!
What are you?

It’s been monthsss since Gats and I went to the movies. Ever since the little boy was born, my desire to go to the theater just simply vanished. As a result, we are now so behind with our movie list (read: we haven’t watched the last Harry Potter film). We make up by buying DVD’s (thanks to Ruins where the likes of Captain Davy Jones abound
),
though we still delay the viewing and end up with a shelf full of unwatched videos. Maybe I need one of those comfy home theater chairs to encourage me to watch movies on a more regular basis?
This email came from my good friend, Dindin. The passage moved me, so I thought I’d post it on my blog and share it to 5 of my pretty mom friends Joy, Jane, Thea, Mich, and Vannie.

Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,
the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
Send this to someone who you think is a special Mom.
I just did!
It’s just been a little over two years that we have lived in the condo, but my cabinets and shelves look older than their age. Thanks to Manu and his motorbike, which slams into everything at home, my furniture is full of cuts, nicks, and scratches. Now I’m thinking of having my some of my wooden furniture refurbished and my cabinets refaced which is a much cheaper option compared with full remodeling (see American Home Craft for details on cabinet refacing). I hope the cost of revamping would still fit in my budget as I already plan to have the little boy’s bedroom fixed and fully decorated when he turns 3.
Thanks Gracie for the award! Really really appreciate it

4 WORDS –> GOT. TO. HAVE. IT.
In an age where everything is almost available I’m still having a hard time getting gifts for special occasions. Maybe I’m being ideal because I don’t want to be repetitive or that I want each time to be unique, but I feel that gifts should be that way. Gifts should be personal yet be very simple to decide on – though I’m having difficulty thinking both at the same time during gift giving. At the moment I’m thinking about upcoming Birthday gifts for my immediate family – some members I can already pinpoint what to get but to most I’m not yet decided. It’s because I know they might get it themselves or that is not something that they like a few weeks or months from now. I prefer giving something useful, every time. The problem is you can only give someone a coffee mug or Swiss Army knife a number of times before it becomes boring. I tried compiling a list once (for select family members only), though I couldn’t get as far as number three since their preference would always change. This is why most of the time it comes down to a “spur of the moment” decision though I personally hate rushing for gifts since I get harassed when shopping on a deadline. The only consolation is that gift giving only happens on select months (again, if you limit it to family). Well, either I rattle my brains out thinking of a nice gift or just end up getting a coffee mug or a Swiss Army knife as upcoming Father’s Day Gifts for my husband and my dad.
Found out about this exciting event while I was doing my morning read at ShopCrazy:
And then I saw it is scheduled on May 17 — the day we depart for Hongkong. A bit upsetting as I am looking forward to attending the one-day expo and listen to talks about the following topics:
- Caring for Baby’s Teeth
- Choosing a School For Your Child: Progressive vs Traditional Learning
- Training Your Yaya/Family and Yaya Partnership
I was also looking forward to visiting the booths of retailers such as David & Goliath and Aqualogic Swim, and the booths of Mompreneurs.
