As mentioned in this post, our trip to Singapore will be my and Gats’ first with a toddler in tow. I know it will be a bit different from my previous travels BUT I didn’t realize it would be THAT different.
You see, when my family travels abroad, all me and my siblings do is shop, shop, and shop some more until our legs (and pockets) couldn’t take it any longer. Well, that’s exactly what happened the past five days. Except I wasn’t able to do it. Truthfully, I was envious of them. I wished I could do what I’d done before. But I couldn’t because the little one needs daddy and mommy’s attention all the time. We couldn’t stay in one store for more than a few minutes because Manu would just get cranky. We knew that we had to keep him busy with play so he wouldn’t get “inip”. We knew that one of us had to sacrifice some – correction: a lot of – shopping hours so that the other would be free to roam around and spend money on whatever she fancies (if you notice the pronouns, you’d know who did what
). Gats and I knew that this trip would definitely be different.
BUT.
Despite this shallow difference, every minute with my two boys was BLISS. I wouldn’t exchange THAT for anything.
I’ll leave you with a picture of my lovely boys making faces during our New Year’s Eve dinner at The Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts (will post more pics in the coming days):

hi kelly! naku, it was your first time out of the country with a toddler pala… oh well, you’ll get used to it
i did! and yeah, jon and i take turns shopping but he’s not really into shopping so i get to do that most of the time while he takes care of the little girl. LOL.
traveling with a toddler is really something but for us leaving the little girl behind is not an option so sige we make her bitbit everywhere haha. but you know, it gets better, promise
give manu a year more and he won’t be that much of a “hindrance” anymore when you shop. sophia lets us shop now more than ever, content on sitting in her stroller eating anything or tinkering with a small toy
will wait for more pics!

oooh i forgot to mention that part pala!:) ahahaha it’s hard to shop seriously when the baby is around..
but it’s the company & experience that counts not the shopping bags!
glad you enjoyed your trip! wer planning to go to singapore for our next vacation. saan kayo nag punta dun? any tips?

hi jane, alam mo ba na gats and i already talked of bringing a yaya when we go out of the country?
ganun kami nanibago! pero baka hindi din kasi sayang din the gastos
and i know that we will get used to it. manu is almost 2 and i’m sure he’ll be less maalagain the next time we travel (i hope!)
leaving the little one behind is also not an option as i would get very lonely! when we went to bangkok last march without manu, i wanted to cry days before we left! super sad talaga

hi vannie, nakakapanibago talaga. first time kasi with a toddler eh
but what you said is so true, my boys’ company and what we had experienced as a family is more important than anything else
if you’re going to singapore, don’t forget to visit the zoo, night safari, sentosa (though i really didn’t like it the last time i was there, which was 3years ago but malamang nag-improve na), and go and get the city tour na din. this trip, we just went to the zoo. we decided to let manu see the other sites next time na lang
and of course, the shopping malls along orchard road

adorable MAnu, still holding a Thomas train toy
hihihi!
You are sooo correct, it feels different when you travel with your boys. Tiring at this stage pa din, pero the moments are worth keeping and remembering. Take turns lang talaga with hubby:) Glad to know you had fun.. more pics ah !

yeah, i guess ganon nga talga when travelling with a toddler. What I did, I left Marlon and Alex at my brother’s pad (since Marlon hates shopping naman) so ayun, they had fun there watching barney (yes, we brought some DVDs for Alex). Imagine, my family and I (we all LOVE shopping too) left them around 10am, nakauwi kme around 11pm na. LOL!

mich, naawa ako kay gats kaya hindi ko maiwan
i know kasi that deep inside he wants to go around too and do a bit of shopping himself
guilty naman akong iwanan silang dalawa sa hotel
pero nung 4th day namin, hindi ko na talaga matiis kaya hayun, hinayaan ko silang mag-ama magsama. they just went to the shopping mall’s play area and toy store pero eventually went back to the hotel because manu pooped!
pero super bitin pa din ang shopping ko
i hope next time manu will be easier to handle so we could go around the area more
